DESCRIPTION McColm & Company seeks a subject matter expert instructor to design, deliver, and manage a 5 day course covering the culture, history, politics, economy, security, and other key elements and dynamics of the country/region. This course prepares those who will cover or live and work in Central Africa. The sub-regional seminar provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the salient issues affecting Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Sao Tome and Principe. This includes discussion of the relevant history of these countries, their relationships with others in the region, their relationships with the U.S. over time, current U.S. policy priorities in the region, and the major political, economic, religious, and social trends in these countries over time. The seminar combines lectures, class discussions, field trips, documentaries, an oral presentation in class, student presentations, and other participatory activities. TERMS OF REFERENCE The course is 5 days in length, beginning February 24, 2020 and ending February 28, 2020.
