DESCRIPTION McColm & Company seeks a subject matter expert instructor to design, deliver, and manage a 5 day course covering the culture, history, politics, economy, security, and other key elements and dynamics of the country/region. This seminar focuses on the Caribbean and provides a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary introduction to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and the other English-, French- and Dutch-speaking islands of the West Indies, as well as the mainland countries of Belize, Suriname, and Guyana. The seminar is designed to prepare participants for working on issues related to the Caribbean nations, whether based in the U.S. or on assignment in one of the countries or territories of the sub-region. The goal is to familiarize participants with the cultural, historical, social, economic, environmental, and political issues within the Caribbean and to examine U.S. foreign policy objectives in the region. The seminar combines lectures, class discussions, activities, fieldtrips, multimedia, and other participatory activities supported by readings. TERMS OF REFERENCE The course is 5 days in length, beginning February 24, 2020 and ending February 28, 2020.
