Course Coordinator: Afghanistan Familiarization

The Afghanistan Familiarization Course is a mandatory course for all USG personnel serving in Afghanistan under Chief of Mission. The course provides essential knowledge about Afghanistan history, culture, politics, government, economy, and U.S. strategy as well as other topics, so that students may advance the foreign policy objectives of the United States. The course is delivered at the Foreign Service Institute – National Foreign Affairs Training Center campus in Arlington, VA.
The Course Coordinator organizes and conducts the course, which is a mix of lectures, interactive exercises, discussions, and audio-visual materials that highlight key historical, political, economic, and socio-cultural themes for Afghanistan as well as American interests and policy issues.
